Nails on Sunday - Easter Inspired!

Just a quick post for today as I'm off to enjoy the Easter festivities in the form of working my way through a copious amount of gigantic chocolate Easter eggs!

Today's nail art was inspired by classic pastel coloured eggs, with an aztec-y print all over. To create this look I used Barry M Blue Moon, MUA 24 Lilac and my Black Models Own Nail Art Pen. Despite being only £1 (!),  I am pleasantly surprised at the formula of the MUA nail polish. This was the first product I have ever tried from MUA, and the nail polish is so pigmented you only need one coat to acheive the desired colour, compared to my three coats of Barry M Blue Moon.

Firstly, I painted my nails in alternate Blue and Lilac colours. I used Nails Inc Basil Street as a base coat before painting one coat of MUA Lilac and three coats of Barry M Blue Moon.

I then carefully drew a zig-zag line across each nail with the Black Models Own Nail Art Pen, before filling in smaller dots and making it into a pattern over each nail. Finally I finished with my usual Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Topcoat to smoothen out the finish and protect the design from chipping.

Hope everyone is having a good Easter Sunday and bank holiday weekend!

Stuffster!

If you're like me, then you're probably used to hitting your favourite online stores daily, browsing the 'New In' sections and doing a quick sweep of the clearance to see if there is anything left in your size worth purchasing. I must admit I am a bit of a slave to the ASOS 'Saved Items' section, and regularly check back to it to see if any of my desired items have been reduced.

Yesterday I was contacted by Stuffster, an online wishlist website which allows you to set a target price for pieces you want to buy! Stuffster can be used on any website, which means the end of me checking through every website for reductions.. it's all done for me! I set up my own Stuffster account to see if this was worth the hype, and let me tell you, it definitely is!

To get yourself started, you add the "+STUFF" bookmark to your bookmark bar, and use it to clip items in the same way as Pinterest or Polyvore.

Now you're ready to go! Browse your favourite stores and 'stuff' your favourite items that are just a little out of your current budget. Set a price alert for the price you want to pay, and if it goes down, Stuffster will alert you just in time for you to buy your size before it goes out of stock!

I had some fun this afternoon playing with Stuffster whilst I was supposed to be revising (oops), here's some of the items that I added to my wishlist:

Tuesday Reviewsday: Bed Head Headrush

If you haven't heard of Bed Head Headrush before, then I suggest you get down to your hairdressers sharpish and bag yourself a bottle. This super fine hair spray is designed to add shine and polish to your finished style, without weighing it down with unnessecary product.

Defined as shine adrenaline with a super fine mist, this hairspray really does do what it says on the tin. One quick spritz all over your hair after styling and you're ready to go, style held loosely in place with lots of gloss. It is not greasy in the slightest and is the finest spray I have ever used, but surprisingly the effects are still noticeable in my long and thick hair. This spray works particularly well with layered hair I have found, as it adds some definition to the ends and maintains a healthy and polished style.

My favourite attribute of this product has to be it's smell. Oh my gosh, it is incredible. Think a fusion of strawberries and sweets and you're not even close, it's amazing. For me, it is one of the smells that really reminds of me of the hairdressers. You know, when you come out with a new haircut and your hair smells the best it's ever smelt? That's what this reminds me of.

I have also found the size and weight of the bottle to be really handy, especially for on the go. As it is only 200ml and the spray inside is very lightweight, this is a very handbag friendly spray unlike some of the larger and bulkier hairsprays on the market. As with all TIGI Bed Head products, I think the colourscheme of this bottle is really appealing which again reinforces my love for this hairspray.

I throroughly recommend you try this product, or at least go and test it out to smell it if you don't want to commit. Trust me, you'll be sold on the smell. Headrush retails at £9.99 and is available in Bed Head stockists including most hairdressing salons across the UK.

Nails on Sunday - Colour Block Ombré Nails!

This week I decided to channel some of the colour blocking I have seen at fashion shows recently onto my nails, but with my own little twist. Instead of using pastels, I went for bright Blue fading into Green, ombré style if you will.

For this look I used:

Nails Inc Basil Street
Topshop Green Room
& Other Stories Twill Blue
Models Own 6 in 1 nail buffer
Tesco Baby Sponge

I started off by painting one coat of Nails Inc Basil Street. I'm not sure why I use a colour as a base instead of a dedicated base coat, I just always have and I find it works really well as it's quite thick so smoothens out any bumps easily.

I then painted two coats of my new polish I picked up in & Other Stories this week, Twill Blue. I have to say I don't think the formula of this nail polish is the best I've ever tried. It came out really thin and streaky to start with then as I started to dip it back in, the brush picked up way too much polish and it applied really thick. The brush is handy though, it's very similar to the Rimmel 60 Second nail polish, a curved shape that allows you to easily cover the nail in three stripes.

To achieve an ombré style finish, I used a sponge to apply one coat of Topshop Green Room to the tips of my nails. This came out really thin as I hoped, and then I painted the ends with the brush. Using a sponge helps to create a transition effect, so that the nail does not go straight from Blue into Green. I think a makeup sponge would be ideal for this as they're smaller, but sadly I couldn't find any in Tesco yesterday when I purchased this one.

(Please excuse the messy bits around my nails, I can't find a cotton bud to remove them with!)

What do you think? If you have any ideas for new looks I should try out, please leave a comment below!

Haul - & Other Stories, Primark, Aveda, Kerastase..

Whilst I was in London this week I purposely didn't let myself get carried away and pick up too much stuff. Liberty's was crying out to me, the Harrods shop windows had never looked so good, and I couldn't stop lusting over H&M's new fashion conscious range, but I was a good girl. I managed to only spend a very respectful £17.00! I'm telling myself that this was due to my incredible self restraint, but really, it was mainly down to payday not being until next week and my bank balance being at an all time low.

Primark are on top form with their accessories at the moment; they're covering all bases for Spring / Summer trends and are still managing to stay extremely affordable whilst offering a beautiful range of pieces that wouldn't look out of place being sold for quadruple the price in Topshop or Zara.

After I posted about & Other Stories a few days back (post here) I couldn't wait to visit their brand new store on Regent Street. It was as great as I had hyped it up to be, the shop layout is clean cut with ranges displayed clearly and a large beauty section in the centre of the store. At the back of the shop there are a few beauty stands with concession brands such as This Works and Dr Bronner. If you're in London I thoroughly recommend checking it out,  you won't be disappointed and their products don't break the bank either.

You might be thinking, why is Hannah showing us the boring sponges she bought from Tesco? Well my friends, they are part of my upcoming Nails on Sunday post, so make sure you check back tomorrow to see how I use them!

I didn't buy the following items, they came in my goody bag from the Harvey Nichols SS13 show I attended on Thursday night (post below). I'm excited to use the Aveda cream, not 100% sure on the GHD mirror but it was a nice surprise to find inside my bag.
